Fiskars X27

Reviews: Fiskars 7884 X27 36-Inch Super Splitting Axe

New to the firewood/log splitting game. Had to have a giant white oak tree taken down due to storm damage. It was cheaper to have the wood left as opposed to having the entire tree hauled away. The tree company cut all the wood into 16 inch lengths. So, what to do with the wood?
I considered renting a log splitter for $65.00 a day. I've never used one and felt a little apprehensive about using it safely.
Googling how to split wood led me to the Fiskars X27. The reviews were amazing. Figured what the hey, I'll try one.

I was not disappointed. This axe is awesome. The rounds at the base of the tree were easily 3 feet in diameter and I had no trouble reducing them to woodstove sized pieces. Mind you, I'm 60, 5'9" and a mere 165 lbs. I also bought the Fiskars sharpening tool, but the axe worked perfectly right out of the box. I won't say every piece splits with one shot although most do.

Try it, you'll like it.
