Reviews: Fiskars 7854 X25 28-Inch Splitting Axe
Maybe only a slight exaggeration. Everyone loves this axe for good reason, it makes logs burst apart, its nearly indestructible, and it takes a razor edge.
I had struggled with my dad to split some rounds from a huge old maple that had fallen in a storm; these were easily 3 feet across. We tried his axe, we tried his 8 lb maul, we tried wedges. The wood just would not split. It was exhausting and we didn't get much done before we were both worn out and I had blisters on my hands. So I got the Fiskars X25 after hearing great things about Fiskars axes. With the X25 I split 4 rounds into 5 inch pieces easily, quickly (working from the outside in) and was not tired at all afterwards.
With normal-sized logs and a proper swing, the pieces go flying. I find myself taking lighter swings, because that's all that is required.
What a great axe! I love it.
Also, I recommend getting the Fiskars axe sharpener, it makes it sharper than it came from the factory.
