Reviews: Fiskars 7854 X25 28-Inch Splitting Axe
I purchased the Fiskars 7854 Splitting Axe two years ago. I had heavier mauls to split my wood, but the handles seemed to come loose or break. I split wood for my home stove. Since I'm always looking for a bargain, I invite tree surgeons to bring the stuff they cut to my house. I have 2 and a half to 4 foot logs to split. Most of what I split is old cotton wood and elm. Hard stuff to split because of the spinning, curving grain. This splitter goes through the wood better than anything I've used in the past. My work load is easier, and I get more split each time I go out (much to the irritation of my boys who have to stack what dad splits).
I recently was working for a couple of hours on some big logs. I usually work my way from the outside of the log in. On one strike, I split the outer portion from the log, but I aimed too far forward and a piece closer to me didn't split. This cracked my Fiskars. Arrggg, I was expecting to have to go out and spend more money on another tool. I decided to give the warranty a try.
I went to the web site and filled in the claim form. I took a picture of the axe showing the damage and uploaded the image and submitted the claim. I received a confirmation email that I would receive my replacement in 7 - 10 business days. Today is the 7th day. I just received my replacement splitting axe. I've never had an easier time with a company. Fiskars stands behind their products and proves it with amazing service. I'm a customer for life. You can't go wrong using a Fiskars product.
